Stephen O. Murray earned a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Toronto, was a postdoctoral fellow in anthropology at the University of California Berkeley, worked in public health with California, Ohio, and Texas counties. He posted nearly four thousand reviews on epinions.com before e-Bay destroyed the site, and more than a thousand more on other now defunct sites,  associatedcontent.com, culturedose.com, bubblews.com, and gather.com. He is the author of more than twenty books, including Angkor Life, American Sociolinguistics, and seven Kindel e-books, including An Introduction to African Cinema and Collected Stories. He is an aficionado of Japanese and Sicilian cinema and literature. He lives on Potrero Hill in San Francisco.
